Hi,

I purchased AffinityPhoto via Appstore. So I don't have a product-key to update or re-install my product.
I am going trough the procedure with Apple for the second time now and I will document it here.
Hopefully it will safe other peoples time!

More to come when the process & documentation is finished.....

Hi vamodrive,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
From where have you bought the application? Mac App Store and Microsoft Store don't use/require product keys - the application is associated with you Apple or Microsoft ID. If you bought the app from the Affinity Store you should have received an e-mail titled Affinity Product Key - Order XXXXXXXXXX: the e-mail and product key combination are on that e-mail. Alternatively you can also sign-in in the Affinity Store with the credentials you used to create an account there (required when buy your first product there), then click the avatar icon on the top right of the page and select Downloads & products keys. You will find the e-mail/product key combination there as well. Let us know if you still have trouble.

It is NOT working via "Updates"
You have to goto "Purchases" and install the new version in the purchase!

What did the button next to the Affinity app in the Mac App Store ("MAS") say when you could find it in the "Purchases" list but not in the "Updates" list? If it said "Download" or "Install" then that almost certainly was either because you had uninstalled your 1.6.x version of Affinity Photo (which is unnecessary) or you had moved it from the top level of the Applications folder where it was originally installed.

If you uninstalled it, then there is nothing to update. If you moved it, then the MAS app won't find it because it only looks for apps in that location.

Hi FinnHummel

I had the same problem. This solution worked for me:

  1. Move version 1.6 to the trash. (only the app, not the preferences)
  2. Go to AppStore. tadaa! Version 1.7 with new icon is visible.
  3. Download your software again.

I'm quite sure I didn't lose any preferences. My assets are still there.
