Edvard Rogue Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Hi, i have considered buying a affinity program for a while now. But i can not decide wich program i should use. I make elektronic music and want some professional looking cover art for that. So please help me decide between Affinity Photo or Designer. Quote
R C-R Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 In the right hands, both apps are capable of producing professional work, but there is no way to suggest which would be best for you without at least knowing something about your familiarity with vector & pixel drawing tools & the kind of cover art you want to make. In very oversimplified, general terms, Designer is better suited for hard edged drawings, sort of like what you could create on a drafting table with a T-square, French curves & triangles, drafting pens, & such; while Photo is better for continuous tone stuff like with paint brushes on canvas. To help you decide, download and install the trial versions: https://affin.co/designertrial https://affin.co/phototrial Please note that the trial period is strictly limited to ten calendar days from the first time you launch each app, so to maximize the available testing time you are strongly advised to try one app after the other rather than both at the same time. Any files saved from the first app can be opened in the second one. firstdefence Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 I think the bias is more towards the Photograph rather than the vector style so I'd go with Affinity Photo , plus you can have geometric shapes in Affinity Photo and do a fair bit that can be accomplished in Designer. Or find everything in the house you don't need, do a car boot/garage sale and buy Affinity Designer as well.
