David Simmer
I would like to measure items in AD and AP as I did in Illustrator and Photoshop. Believe it or not I use these programs for mapping and technical drawings. I know one can use other programs like Graphic for scaled drawings, but they do not have the features that Designer and Photo have.

Polygonius
For just measure use the transform-panel. For dedicated guides there is a spcial window view> config guides (or so). There you can eg. config your guides in percent if you need. Also under VIEW there is the "Ruler"-config (do not know how its translated) but there you can create your "raster" in many ways. R C-R
You can select an object with the Move Tool & hold down the CMD key (probably the CTRL key on Windows), then move the pointer around to temporarily display various distances to other objects or to the canvas edge. To see the dimensions & placement of any object select it & look at the values in the Transform panel. There are also various alignment options options available on the main toolbar to align or distribute objects.
