App Store not updated

I just ran into a problem. I noticed there was an update (1.6.5) for Designer on the Affinity site here and I downloaded it and installed it. I originally bought it on the Mac App store where the last update is 10 months old (1.6.1). I thought I would install the latest since I was having a problem with gradient transparencies not exporting correctly to PDF. 

Now it's asking me for a key that I don't have. 

What can I do now besides by another version online? The app store won't let me download it because it's installed and just wants to open.

What's the deal with the app store not getting updated?

Hi Bryce,
Despite the difference in version numbers, both versions are basically the same/include the same functionality. The differences in the numbers are mostly due to fixes related with sandboxing/specifics to each distribution channel. Version 1.6.1 (Mac App Store) is the most up to date version available. There's a Custom Beta of the upcoming version 1.7 in case you are willing give it a try. You can download it from here. Remember to keep the Mac App Store version installed to be able to run/validate the Beta. Apart from this both are independent from each other.
