TerenceT
Hi! I have the latest iOS on a new 12.9 iPad, and loaded the brushes just fine, but can’t get the assets for the Christi’s Comic Toolbox to load... I see import category when I open the Assets drop down, but not Import Assets, and when I try to use what I see, the assets are grayed out in Dropbox, Files and iCloud. I am seeing a blank icon, and not the logo, but don’t know if its because they are third party... I downloaded them several times with no improvement. Help! And how do I attach an image to show you what is pretty obvious - a grayed out blank icon. Thanks!

TerenceT
I bought the Christo Comix Toolbox on the site two days ago, and have the same problem with the assets. The brushes loaded fine, but the assets are grayed out. I have put the file in DropBox, ICloud, on My iPad, and Creative Cloud drive, it doesn’t see it anywhere. I have restarted, soft reset,a Dan written o the developer who made it and keeps swearing there is no problem. I don’t know if Affinity upgraded since he created them or what is wrong. Help! I am attaching grabs of the program, the window it opens with th icon gray, and the download folder contents. I am on a new 12.9 iPad with the current iOS, and the latest copy of Affinity. Staff Gabe Posted March 23, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 23, 2020 It looks like we've introduced in issue where afassets files cannot be imported if you don't have Designer installed. I've logged this with our developers.
TerenceT
Oh. But I don’t want to buy and install Designer. Will they fix this, or do I need to return the package before my fifteen days runs out, if it hasn’t already...? Thanks for the update! Staff Gabe Posted March 26, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 26, 2020 I'm afraid I don't know when this is going to be fixed. Sorry.

Affinity are offering 90 free trial for win and Mac and if you buy now 50% discounts on win, Mac and iPad apps. pretty good value indeed. 🙂 A new 90-day free trial of the Mac and Windows versions of the whole Affinity suite A 50% discount for those who would rather buy and keep the apps on Mac, Windows PC and iPad Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). TerenceT
Hm. If I do a 90 day trial of Designer and import the assets, will they stay in the other after the trial expires?
Staff Gabe Posted March 27, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 27, 2020 I've just seen the fix for this issue in the latest Photo Beta. You can test it here: Alfred

DM1
Feature fixes for one app generally applied to the other. Their is a beta GM for Designer now which probably has the fix too. Download here. jsacks
Thanks for answering. I think I'll stick to the current version for now, and hope it's fixed (it's definitely a workflow killer not having it Assets import properly).

toompat
Hello, I am unable to use the "Open From Cloud" and "Import From Cloud" features to work on Designer files originally created with the Windows Desktop version (1.8.3.641). The files are greyed out and I am unable to select them for open or import (same as previous posts and their attached photos). I'm using an iPad Pro 5th gen with the most recent version of iOSx (13.4.1) and Designer (1.8.3.2). My workflow is setup for Google Drive and iCloud is not a good solution. Is there a way to get this feature working? The steps I've taken: 1 - Restarted the iPad 2 - Tried dragging files from the Files app 3 - Updated iPad from 12.4 to 13.4.1 4 - Restarted the iPad again 5 - Attempted opening an empty file saved from the desktop * Edit: I was able to open the files directly from the Files app (without dragging). So it is working in some capacity. Would be very nice to have these features working as advertised however. The only workaround is the one you already found

Staff Gabe Posted April 29, 2020 Staff Share Posted April 29, 2020 afassets files are a different file type, and can't be embedded(placed) in a document. Once you place them in a document, they become part of the document (as curves, shapes, etc) I believe @toompat was referring to actual afphoto/afdesign files. Staff Gabe Posted April 29, 2020 Staff Share Posted April 29, 2020 Sorry. I thought you meant embedding actual .afstyles files by File > Place. Yeah, what you say would work. Move Along People
jsacks
That’s still highly inconvenient.
