Why halo round text?

Using AP I when a solid colour behind text I get what looks like a halo around the text. When I export to jpg @ 100%  bicubic How to stop this happening?

Export to another format such as PNG. The JPEG format is notorious for producing artefacts around text and at other sharp boundaries between contrasting colours, even at 100% ‘quality’ (i.e. minimum compression).

But it doesn't need to be as poor as the OP's. This was done in a different application and a screen shot taken of the viewed JPG. My screen capture application is set to save as a PNG. Why did I capture the exported JPG this way? Because when I uploaded the JPG the forum software appeared to degrade the image.
