resample issue assistance required

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I have a problem with the latest version. When I export the .afpub to .pdf for web and the raster images downsampled from 300dpi to 72dpi, all of these images get pixelated. The result is terrible on the screen. I've tried many ways to solve the problem, but I can't. In the previous versions there weren't any problem with the export... or I do something wrong?

Sorry for my bad english.

Hi Ary634

web has a lower dpi of 72 so there are less pixels to represent the same area giving you less resolution, I'm guessing that this design is quite small and at a much higher dpi. I would expect there to be a loss in resolution in this case

This is the same in previous betas and in our current releases

What did you do differently this time if it worked well for you previously?  I notice that the 72ppi and 300ppi images appear roughly the same size.  This should not be.  If the 300 ppi image was downsampled to 72ppi then the latter would have to become at least 4 times larger on the screen..  Since the 72ppi image is the same size as the 300ppi I would imagine that you should leave the PDF to 'do not downsample' and see what happens.  What is the physical size of the image and its corresponding ppi before export.  And then whst physical size on screen do you want the image?

Microsoft - Like entering your home and opening the stainless steel kitchen door, with a Popup: 'Do you really want to open this door'? Then looking for the dishwasher and finding it stored in the living room where you have to download a water supply from the app store, then you have to buy microsoft compliant soap, remove the carpet only to be told that it is glued to the floor.. Don't forget to make multiple copies of your front door key and post them to all who demand access to all the doors inside your home including the windows and outside shed.

Apple - Like entering your home and opening the oak framed Kitchen door and finding the dishwasher right in front you ready to be switched on, soap supplied, and water that comes through a water softener.  Ah the front door key is yours and it only needs to open the front door.
