Scaling Images and objects inconsistent with/without Shift

Scaling Images with constant aspect rate works without SHIFT.

Scaling some assets with constant aspect rate works without SHIFT.

Scaling other objects (curves, Rectangle) with constant aspect rate works with SHIFT. (here, without SHIFT you can change aspect rate.

This behaviour is inconsistent and should, in my opinion, be standardised.

Objects with a natural aspect ratio place and scale in aspect

Objects like text frames and quick shapes have no natural aspect ratio and so scale out of aspect by default.

This default behaviour is by design.

If you go into preferences > tools you can set the default to always constrain regardless of object type or always be not constrained. 

However you choose to constrain you can hold down shift to do the opposite version when required
