Hi there, if I draw a vector character (cartoon animal) and convert all strokes to shape I still have individual curves. But if select them all and click add geometry it takes forever. I usually have to quit. Also on the iPad Version.  Sometimes Converting doesn’t even work - I have to try several times. If I open the file as PDF in illustrator I can merge the curves with no problem. What do I do wrong?

Cheers, Bung

Hey Dan, either on a Mac Pro with Sierra, an iMac with Mojave or the iPad Pro … it won't work. I've uploaded the file, maybe you can tell me more.

Thanks, Bung

Regardless of the time taken, those results probably aren't what bung is expecting.

Hi, Bung,

The stroke expansion routine can create immense numbers of nodes w. curved objects. I've run into similar situations, and a few times did a force quit as my machine became completely unresponsive for more than 10 minutes. I've found that the problem is lessened if I select portions, and add in steps. For instance, I had several hundred power duplicated strokes with various pressure curve adjustments. They were overlapping in a cross hatch pattern. If I tried adding them all at once, the machine could barely handle the task. If I grabbed them in 1/4 bunches, each batch only took a minute or so.

Thanks for confirming that, this is a bug we're aware of when using the expand stroke function and then adding multiple curves using geometry. We're working to fix this asap.

Unfortunately the only workaround currently is as gdenby describes, selecting less curves at once before adding them, my apologies for any inconveniences.
