Hello. I simply have an image that's captured on widescreen format which I want to paste into a 1080p newly created image. When I paste it,  it's not pasted in place but rather off quite a bit. How can I overcome this issue. Here are my results

Initial Image and after I paste it into a new 1080p blank image. There is a white space on the left of the pasted image, it isn't visible probably due to the fact that this forum's background is white.

Pasting may not be the best choice. Have you considered one of these alternatives?

  • File > Open
  • File > New from Clipboard
  • File > Place

If you do paste it, I'm not sure why it came in off-center, but you should be able to use the Move tool to correct the placement, I think. Perhaps someone else will have suggestions for why it ended up where it did.

  1. Make sure snapping is on and choose the snapping preset Page Layouts.
  2. Go to File > Place and open the image.
  3. Now site the Place Cursor in the centre of the Document (You will know the centre when you have a Green Vertical Line and a Red Horizontal line.)
  4. Now Click at that point, (you have now Placed the image at the centre of the Document.)
