I bought and installed Affinity Photo through Windows store. This approach did not install shortcut icon on desktop or gave me any copy of the software. When I tried to link it in Adobe Lightroom as an option for photo editing, I could not find the location of executable file of Affinity Photo. Could anybody tell me where I can locate the executable file of Affinity photo? Thanks.

Hi.

You have just met one of the "problems" associated with the Windows Store versions of the Affinity apps, indeed of any app purchased and installed from that source.

The actual installation location is C:\ProgramFiles\WindowsApps.  By default, this is hidden/protected and you need permission to access it! This web page will show you how you may, relatively easily, "grant yourself permission" to access the folder.  The utility which is mentioned, "TakeOwnershipEx" is perfectly safe to use - the usual advice is to proceed carefully - I have it permanently installed on my system for those occasions when Windows decides, in its wisdom, that I am not to be trusted to take full control of my own computer!  You can also fully restore the default permissions simply by running TakeOwnershipEx again on the file/folder.

So, to answer your specific question, if you can access the APh folder in WindowsApps and can then create a desktop shortcut and link from Lightroom, you should be good to go, I think!

Possibly not!  The last time I tried it, while it was possible to open AP, it wasn't possible to actually edit anything.

Thank you @IanSG.  I suspected that might be the case but wanted to hope, for the sake of the OP!:)

I'm hoping I was wrong!  The only way I could get it to work was by copying the entire AP folder structure to an unprotected folder and then using that instead.  BUT I was experimenting after a couple (or so) glasses of wine and didn't fancy playing with permissions!

<edit>

Happy days - I was wrong!!  Follow @emmrecs01's excellent advice and it works!

Thank you for all your inputs. I'll see how far I can go. Good to know the hassle of using Windows Store to install SW. Most likely I will prevent from using it to purchase SW as much as possible.
