leuveg Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Hello, i want t osubdivide a objekct path (like a rectangle) evenly. How can i do this? Yes, i know i can set ankerpoint maually with my mouse, but that is not exactly enought. Think about diagonal edges. My thought was "select to ankerpoints and than divide the path between in (for example) 8 segments." But i dont found an option that can do. I wonder, than inkscape can do this. Well, a picture like help understand what i mean, any idea? cheers, Leuveg Quote
Staff stokerg Posted June 21, 2018 Staff Posted June 21, 2018 Hi leuveg, The only way i can see to do this is by adding the nodes manually and using the rulers as a guide to where they will be added. We don't have the insert X amount of nodes option. I'm sure if anyone else knows of a better/quicker way they will post shortly Quote
gdenby Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Hi, leuveg, At this point, AD has no tool to divide a vector between 2 nodes. It would have to be done manually. I can think of a couple of ways, tho' I'm not certain of the level of precision. Here is an illustration. Sw. snapping on, enclose the irregular shape in a rectangle. Copy the rectangle, and multiply the width by .2, using the transform dialog. Slide the copy to the side, and repeatedly duplicate while positioning towards the opposite side. Once the 5 copies have spanned the diagonal, use the node tool to add nodes snapped to the edges of the rectangles where they intersect the diagonal. gdenby Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Thought about it some more, decided that in most situations it would be too inaccurate. So, made 3 shapes that could be placed at right angles to the diagonal, transferred the node positions to a calculator, and worked out the hypotenuse, divided that by 5, and made a series of circles based on that value to better intersect the diagonal. Fairly tedious, but works if no other option is available. JasonAracde Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 This feature is very important and essential for working with vector graphics. That should be developed with the highest priority. please. Quote
Old Bruce Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Why not use the Distribute feature? Select the nodes and hit the Distribute horizontally and vertically buttons.
