Good day to you.

Would there happen to be copies of Photo and Designer that are not sandboxed so that more fonts can be used with the programs?

Currently, if I go over a certain amount of fonts, the program won't allow me to open or save files. I can create a new file, but can't save it. Past files, won't open.

Hi iambia,

Our apps do not have any fonts within them but rather they access the installed fonts on your operating system and being sandboxed will not restrict accessing all of the installed fonts, If you have a very large number of installed fonts this can cause issued as they have to be loaded into memory when the computer starts.

The reason I asked this is because the Affinity programs do have a problem with loading fonts beyond a certain amount. And I was told it might be because of the sandboxing features. I have been having this issue with Photo and Designer. I learned about it possibly being the fonts through this forum. When I reduced the amount of fonts that are active, Affinity behaved. Over a certain amount, the program would not allow me to save or open previous files I had created. It would tell me that I do not have permission to perform the action.

A little over 10,000. BUT, I also noticed from others in the forums that the number for them might be different when the error occurs.

That is quite a lot of fonts to have installed as this can effect the performance of your computer if it has below 8Gb of RAM as the fonts are loaded into memory when your computer and if you search the web regarding font issues the most fonts people have is between 600 and 1800 installed. do you have a font manager installed as this will allow you to activate and deactivate the fonts as they are required.
