halljm Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I am trying to change the sky in a photo. I've tried following video tutorials, but my Smart Selection Brush Tool is not working. I have the Background layer selected and the other photo unselected. Then I select the Selections Persona and choose Smart Selection Brush Tool, Nothing happens when I try tracing the sky portion I don't want. If I try to scribble over the unwanted sky, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Quote
Staff Lee D Posted November 21, 2017 Staff Posted November 21, 2017 Hi halljm, Welcome to the forums. Once you have switched to the Selection persona and selected the Smart Selection Brush. Check to see if the Mode is set to Add on the context toolbar at the bottom. If it still doesn't work for you, can you do a screen recording from opening the image, checking the layer and using the Selections persona. Quote

Foxter80 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Hello to everyone! i am trying also to do a selection but the tool is not working. It creates a double line on the selected item as you can see in the photo below. Quote
Staff MEB Posted November 28, 2017 Staff Posted November 28, 2017 Hi Foxter80, Please tap the Snap to edges icon on the context toolbar on bottom to enable it (you should see a thin outline around the circle) then try selecting the dress again. It should work as you'd expect. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Foxter80 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Yes it worked! Thanks again. It seems that, there are not so many tutorials for iPad version of Affinity. also if I want the desktop version that means i have to pay again to download it? Quote

I find they cover most requirements. You may need to pause/replay a few times while trying it out in AP. check out no 10 - selection refinement. It covers what you are enquiring about. And yes, the desktop version is a separate purchase. I don't think it would be a great help to you for learning the iPad version. Too many differences between the two. Hi Foxter80, True, but the iPad version is also way more recent than the desktop version. I'm sure James will continue adding more as we move forward. Regarding the desktop license, yes, you have to acquire a new one. Each platform requires its own license. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
