JGD
Hi guys, Any thoughts on MPEG/Apple’s brand-spanking-new High Efficiency Image Format support? Affinity seems to be a logical choice for people who want to stay current on the latest and greatest standards, all with its fresh codebase and support for macOS-specific technologies… And let’s not forget about PC and iPad folks as well. Having Affinity support that format on all major platforms would greatly boost its adoption rate. What do you say? HochdruckHummer
Staff MEB Posted September 26, 2017 Staff Share Posted September 26, 2017 Hi JGD, Andy Somerfield already added HEIF/HEIC import support on Photo for iPad for iOS11. I believe it's just a question of time until we add full support in all versions. JGD 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
JGD
Hi MEB, Cool! Weirdly, a search on the forums for “HEIF” didn’t produce any results… And I don’t lurk much on the iPad forums, seeing that I only own a 3G/Retina. Thanks for the heads up! JGD
(By the way, Apple seems to be lagging a bit behind itself with their own FCPX update, and it will take 10 years for most browsers to support those formats, so… do take your time. But I’d love to try them out on a proper DTP package sooner rather than later, if you know what I mean )

If you simply change it from "This Topic" to "This Forum" you will only get results from content posted in "Feature Requests, Suggestions and Feedback"; prior to the creation of this thread, that search would have returned no results (as you found). HochdruckHummer
IMHO HEIF is the best thing that could happen to digital pictures to save storage while keeping high picture quality. Please don't stand in that formats way. Please integrate HEIF support for reading and exporting.

I own the desktop version but am thinking of buying the iPad version. Would I be able to import a HEIC into iPad and save to an AP format and then work on it on the desktop? S_affinityuser
I don’t think it is possible (or at least easy) to support HEIF on all platforms. At least it seems the case in the other forum: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/47729-heif/#comment-239112 But I think it is important that HEIF exporting is supported on the platforms where it is possible (MacOS 10.13 and iPad I think only atm). I’m sure everyone will understand that it isn’t possible to have it on every platform, and that it isn’t affinity’s fault. I believe it is now possible to read HEIF (the release notes for Affinity Photo for iPad 1.6.7 seems to say so), but exporting is just as important. Please implement HEIF exporting only on the platforms that support HEIF, PLEASE... Thanks in advance
