I just ran into this in beta 1.0.21844 and found it does it in MAS.

 

I have two shapes in my drawing.  If I drag the one layer onto another to clip it, then drag it off to unclip it the icon in the layer panel looses its color.  It's only shown white on black even though the actual image retains the correct color.  If I change the color of the shape then the layer icon corrects itself.

Yes, sometimes the layer thumbnails don't update in real time and display in black and white. I've seen it before. Thanks for raising this issue. I will log it to be looked at.

 

Do you have any file available where this happens consistently? Can't reproduce it at the moment.

Yes, I'm aware of this happening - it's only just that the thumbnail image is cached and isn't regenerated when it is removed from being a clip child - there's nothing harmful or unstable happening so don't worry too much - I will try to fix this. Sorry for any inconvenience in the meantime.
