I know on Friday the 13th days we have the black cat shape appear, our hidden "Easter Egg". I am sure I read somewhere though that it is possible to access it other times too but I can't remember just how.  Help please?

The cat shapes instead of gear wheels in the Styles panel are only displayed on Friday the 13th, as far as I'm aware, but you can make the Cat Shape appear on the Shape Tools toolbar flyout by holding down a modifier key (the Shift key, at least on Windows) when you click on the little white triangle to expand the flyout. In Affinity Designer on either platform (and, I believe, in Affinity Photo on Mac) you can customize the tools to make the Cat Tool icon available at all times.

There is even a cat unit you can use in numeric entry fields. Just type a number followed by "cat" instead of "px" or whatever in the field. The Affinity cat must be a pretty big one: one cat unit is equal to about 28 inches or 71 cm!  :)

I am still trying to figure out what is standard about the Affinity cat unit or why they chose 71 cm for it. There must be a story there but so far they have not told it.
