Is there a way to snap an object, say the center of a circle, to the nodes of another object, say an S shaped spline?

Just curious here, not asking for a "feature".

Yes, it's not a direct solution, but it's possible (although you have to convert the circle to curves).

So convert your circle to curves, select both the circle and the S path and change to Node Tool. Make sure you have the first and third icons in the Snap section of the context toolbar activated while in the Node Tool. Then select the four nodes of the circle and drag from one of them over the S shaped path. Make sure you have the center of the circle roughly over the node you want to snap to. An horizontal and vertical smart guides (red and green respectively) will then help you position the circle with precision.

Hopefully with Ben's improvements to snapping coming later, this should become easier.

Not something I need often so this will work (assuming I can remember it!). Thanks.
