gkaizer Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Hi, I'm trying the new beta (1.5.0.38) in windows 10.The Denoise Live Filter doesn't seem to work at all, I put a video on line where I show what's not working and hope it makes it more clear what I mean. https://youtu.be/u8ofDztWR-k
Staff MEB Posted November 23, 2016 Staff Posted November 23, 2016 Hi gkaiser, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The live filters are dynamic/applied in realtime to what you see on screen and so their rendering changes slightly depending on the zoom level. To ensure you are getting an accurate preview of the filter and exported image make sure you are checking/seeing your images at 100% zoom. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
gkaizer Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Ok, I shot a 6400 ISO RAW picture on black, lots of noise.Develop Persona doesn't even seem to just reduce a little bit of noise, so I developed the RAW, and I took 2 snapshots, before and after, at 80% zoom.No difference at all :)
Pollux Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Hello,I think the live filter works absolutely correct, the filters generally work by affinity Photo very gently. Here are examples: Before After
NormanPCN Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 You probably have to click the extreme box to get more range in the slider for more reduction. The default 0-100 range does not do very strong noise reduction.
gkaizer Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 Yes indeed, for ISO till 800 just some noise reduction but above nothing at all.Extreme is too extreme to my feeling, and I think it's a bug that when you unclick it, it doesn't remember the slider previous position.
NormanPCN Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I believe it does remember the slider position when you click extreme. The slider thumb must move because the value range is massively expanded. So the thumb moves to the left when you click extreme because 100 is a low value in the extreme range. The normal range is 0..100. The extreme range is 0..2000. The range is expanded so much that moving the slider thumb can be a bit touchy so small movements make a reasonable difference. I tested one ISO 12800 photo from an APS-C camera and I would get nowhere near 2000. More like 200..500.
