evtonic3
I need to crop an image so I grab the tool then I try to punch in the new size in the transformation panel assuming this is the most accurate way to do this, but it always squashes my image this way. Grabbing the handles does this correctly. I can do a workaround but I thought this is bug.
Chris_K
Hi evtonic3 This is not a bug and is kind of expected although it could probably be a little better. After initially selecting the crop tool the transform behaves the same as it does for other tools, in that it transforms what is selected in the layers panel at that time, which happens to be the image in this case. As there is no crop applied at this point you are unable to select it to use the transform panel. As soon as you move it the crop is applied as a separate object, this can be selected and then transformed using the panel. This is the difference between this and a regular crop with is applied directly to an object Doesn't mean this can't be improved though! evtonic3
The Vector tool is great and being that it can be used with raster image/object shouldn't it just be called a crop tool? It works so much faster than masking an image, as in my case. And if you could add the transform functionality would be awesome.
Staff MEB Posted October 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 24, 2016 It's called Vector Crop Tool because it uses a vector shape (a rectangle) to crop the image. You can select it individually in the Layers panel (expand the cropped layer) and manipulate it with the Move Tool if you want.
