Keyboard Shortcuts for "Add" and "Subtract" while using "Selection Brush Tool"

Recommended Posts

So maybe I don't know where to find them, maybe they don't exist, but does anyone know if you can set keyboard shortcuts for the "Add" and "Subtract" buttons while using the Selection Brush Tool? It would be super handy trying to narrow down what you actually want selected. Thanks!

I don't believe there's a default setting, but you can create your own by opening Preferences ( Cmd , ) and going to Keyboard Shortcuts.

Those operations can be found in the Layer option (second dropdown) under Geometry. They look like this:

Geometry > Add

Geometry > Subtract

Geometry > Intersect

And so on...  :)

I think spleeding is asking about the AP Selection Brush tool, not the AD geometry operations.

If so, there are already keyboard modifiers built into the tool, as indicated in the Status Bar at the bottom of the window when that tool is selected:

When in Add mode, holding down ⌥ (the alt/option key) subtracts from the selection; in subtract mode holding down ⌃ (the control key) adds. In both modes, holding down the command key toggles the 'snap to edges' function.
