@LondonSquirrel Amazon and Google have billions of dollars to throw at massive servers, I don't think they are a fair example. You're right, it isn't a silver bullet. You need to look at the whole package. You also can't overlook the obvious (webp loads faster than jpg because the files are smaller). Maybe not for 1 person. If 100 people visit the same page at the same time, it will take an extra 5 seconds for the last guy to load. I realize that most sites don't get that much traffic, but if you can do more with less servers you can greatly increase your bottom line. Thanks, I appreciate your support, even though (I think) we disagree, but I guess I should ask, "Does it matter to you if Affinity added WebP export?" I don't think I am overselling webp. I never said it was essential, just a better option depending on the situation. I am not trying start an argument with the points above, just countering your comments. When I shoot in RAW and process with Affinity, I have to first export to JPG or PNG and then to WebP – two conversions instead of one, obviously affecting image quality (and, yes, I understand that webp isn't as good to start with). Sure I could convert to Adobe, but aren't most of us here because we don't want to mortgage our appendages to Adobe? So once again, the point of this thread is to ask Affinity to consider adding WebP support, which is all I really want to do. I'm not going to argue it's the one ring of imaging, I'm not even going to argue that it's the one ring of web imaging, it's just an option some of us would like to see added to the Affinity products.

Look, lets be real about its purpose, which is found in the name: webp. We are talking about web pictures. It's not just valuable to Google, it's valuable to any web developer who desires to have fast-loading pages. They aren't meant to be the greatest image in the world. WordPress has added native support for webp, its use most-likely will go up. Yes, it is an unfamiliar format for most, yes, I can convert it on the CLI with cwepb, but it is an extra step. I can export to SVG in Affinity Photo, how many photographers use that? When it comes to e-commerce and web traffic, fractions-of-a-second page-loading matter. A long time ago in this post I mentioned all of the newer competing formats that are trying to out-do each other. How many special formats have come and gone? I don't think this thread was intended to be an argument over which format is the best. It was started (maybe by a web developer, @Helmar) who is looking at improving website performance and wants to save a step in conversion. Would you have this same back-and-forth between whether RAW or JPG is better? One or the other is better depending on the situation it is used. For all of you who are anti-webp, keep in mind that there are currently 11 different export options of which I have not used half of them. I would guess that most of the commentors on this thread have not used half of them and there may be none to a handful that have used all of them. This thread was supposed to let Affinity know that there are some of us who would like an option to export to a newer web format and ask them if they would consider, not for all of the people who don't have use for webp to tell those of us that do that we are fools, nor for those who want webp to tell those that don't that they are fools. Which is better, a pickup truck or a sedan? Sedan gets better gas mileage, but good luck picking up a load of lumber.

Seeing that this post was started 2 years ago and still not implemented: I am in web development and am looking to optimize images. I went to the Can I Use It as listed above and I think I understand the hesitancy of Serif to invest resources to implement this. Currently it appears as though WebP format is the best choice. However, in it's description you find: And these are not supported very well yet. As soon as you get one top choice everyone else tries to be the new top choice.

Exposure Calculator/Comparison
spleeding posted a topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
This is where I got the idea from: Exposure Calculator The Calculator/Comparison allows you to do 2 things: 1. Enter in ISO, Shutter Speed, f-Stop (maybe even exposure comp, but that is probably overkill) manually. 2. Have it pull from the meta data of open files/photos. In each side (Exposure A, Exposure B) there are input boxes to enter in the information manually, along with a drop-down menu of the currently open files to choose from to auto fill from the meta data. I know it's already available else where, but to have it in the app would be great. And maybe I am the only one that would find this useful. Thanks! -
Hi @mmuller, I know this is an old post, but I just figured out the left and right arrow keys increment and decrement the brush rotation by 5 degrees. And if you type in a number, it will do it by 1 degree. I was also seeking an answer to this.

Hi @Dan C, Hope you had a Merry Christmas. Just wanted to let you know that I used App Cleaner to remove Affinity Photo and reinstall it. That seems to have fixed the issue for now. I hadn't been using it very much because it kinda rendered my workflow useless. Let me know if they ever find anything. Thanks.

Sorry @Dan C, been a way for a little and forgot I started this. Happens with .DNG files, regardless of image. Yes RAW, Pentax K-3 ii. I've had this camera for a while and have processed many RAW files from it in the same manner as I am trying now. I have presets that I use to edit my RAW files. It can be set on any view, None, Split, Mirror. I make one change and sync before. I make another change and sync before, and it crashes every time. I just tried a JPEG and got it to crash too, but it took many more edits. I send the error report to Apple every time, but I do not know if you get those. I do have it selected that Apple could share it with you. Thanks.

I know I've been lampooned on this one for something that should have been easy, but I'm curious if any of you have tried making a new file using the sRGB profile, setting the RGB sliders to the numbers given for a color name, exporting the image and using it in an html document with the color name to see if it matches? (that's what I did on the image I posted)

So I found something that worked. I changed the Apple Color Meter setting to sRGB and then got the number of the color from the browser (RGB 45,131,184). I put those numbers into Photo and exported to .jpeg. I reloaded my web browser and set the color meter to the default setting. It was really close (RGB 80,129,180). I had read something in this process that .png was more accurate than .jpeg (https://frontify.com/blog/are-you-using-correct-color-codes) so I exported as .png and checked it in the browser. The colors now match. Thanks for the help.

At the top left of the window it has: RGBA/16 - SRGB IEC61966-2.1 My color layer is a fill layer, and the white bars are a pixel layer on top. The white bars actually come out the same color. I've been checking it with the Apple Color Meter inside of Affinity. Even the layer inside affinity has the wrong color. I set the sliders to the value I want, but it comes out wrong. I even tried making a pixel layer of the blue and using the pixel tool to put it down, but it still shows wrong.

I'm working on a web design, and I am trying to make a custom navbar menu icon to use in my navbar. The color I am using is CSS3 SteelBlue RGB(70,130,180). I used the sliders to set my color, but on export to jpeg (using Lanczos 3 (non-separable)) my color turns into RGB(84,129,176) and no longer matches my navbar. What settings do I need to use to keep my RGB values consistent. And for those wondering, I am using Photo and not a different program.

That's not quite what I was looking for. In the Help files for "Replacing Colours by Brush," there is a picture of cat in which they changed the color of the towel wrapped around it. What I'm trying to do (I'd upload a picture but I can't figure out how to add it to my media) is replace a washed out area on a face the was towards a sunny window. Maybe this is the wrong way to do it, but all I've been able to do is change the color of her lips, not what I actually want to change. Even if I try picking another color in the image that is very distinct, I can't seem to be able to change that either. Help?!! Thanks. Ooo. Just figured out the picture upload.

Thanks for the topic, I am just trying to do this. The only thing I can't figure out is where to set the color that I want to replace. For example: If I wanted to change red to blue, how do I tell it that I want to replace red? I've figured out how to make it blue, just not the red I want to replace, a mess of different other colors.
