spdorsey Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) MacOS 15.3.2 (24D81), Macbook Pro M4, 64GB RAM There needs to be a larger "cushion" when dragging the edge of the workspace. I almost always overshoot it and I don't think the icon changes to the "double-arrow" icon in the correct spot. If the icon changes to double-arrow, it happens after I have already overshot the (seemingly) 1px edge of the work area that I need to click on to resize, this means I am inadvertently clicking on the item behind Affinity Photo, moving the machine's app focus and requiring me to click back into the app. If I go back to try again, the double-arrow does not always reappear, so I have no idea if my action is going to work. If I go SUPER SLOW, it sometimes works, but once again the double-arrow does not always appear to validate (or it seems it appears in the wrong place?) All of the window-edge sensitivities (I'm also thinking of the palette edges sticking together) need adjustment. They are unreliable and slow down the work process. MikeTO Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Hi @spdorsey I don't have this problem on my Mac, the edges of the app feel just like every other app. What type of mouse are you using, is it a high resolution mouse? A "Roccat Kone" mouse. It advertises 19K dpi, so yes, I think it's high resolution. (Trying to move away form Logitech, this was my first attempt to replace my old mouse at a reasonable price). https://www.amazon.com/ROCCAT-Lightweight-Ergonomic-Performance-Aluminum/dp/B091BMFL15 Quote
Scotty77 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 This is also particularly evident with a graphics tablet with stylus. I use an XP Pen Artist 24 QHD and it requires a great deal of precision in lowering the stylus to the screen in order to grab the edges, seemingly more so than other programmes and windows. A larger 'cushion' would be very welcome! Quote
MikeTO Posted March 14 Posted March 14 If you have an old mouse lying around it would be interesting if you could try it with that and compare because I bet this is the key. There have been a few reports of odd glitches with high res mice and Affinity. spdorsey 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.4, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)

There have been a few reports of odd glitches with high res mice and Affinity. I found this old mouse in a drawer and it paired with my Mac quickly and painlessly. I typically do not use wireless mice. https://tecknet.com/products/bluetooth-wireless-mouse It claims to poll at "4800/3200/2400/1600/1200/800DPI". I have no idea what the setting is of the mouse, I did not install any custom software to run the mouse. The issue persists. I was able to drag the edge a couple of times, but overall it was still very tricky to click the mouse at the moment I saw the double arrow cursor. I missed it almost every time. I don't know how these sorts of things typically work, but from what I understand about Fitts law, larger targets are easier to hit, and this target appears to be 1px wide. That's pretty hard to hit. (I may be wrong, but it feels like 1px wide). I hope this helps. mouse2.mov Quote

Viktor CR Posted March 17 Posted March 17 @spdorsey Is there a reason for why you are not aiming and waiting to see the double-headed arrow before clicking? Just clicking around in that area in hopes for it somehow to get what you want won't work 🙂 Quote

This isn't user error, it's the app. The behavior is markedly different in Affinity apps. Quote
