Nigel Strudwick Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I am seriously thinking about moving to Affinity from Indesign, mainly for cost reasons, as I do not like the concept of renting software. I have just been told that the trial period for Affinity products is one week. I'm a busy person and can't spare 8 hours a day to learn a product; his seems a preposterously short period to try it out as graphic design software is complex and can take a fair time to re-orientate oneself. Even Adobe used to allow trials of 30 days. I have heard of longer periods being offered, but I am told the one week is the official time, although I have heard of friends with three month trials. How do we get a longer period? I cannot take the risk of moving to Affinity without time to have a good look at its features. Quote
Komatös Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Hello and welcome to the forums @Nigel Strudwick Perhaps a decision-maker is reading this and will extend the test period again. But for now there isn't more than the seven days. Affinity Publisher is no more complicated than InDesign. Try the trial, because it costs nothing to try! PaulEC Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I'd agree that 7 days is ridiculously short, Serif seem to think that prospective users have nothing else to do but try out their software! It's even worse if you want to try out all three apps together and check out the benefits of Studio Link. Apparently the much longer trial period was a limited time offer! I can't check a complex piece of software in 7 days being as busy as I am. At the moment this will stop me from buying it. Period. It's ridiculous. Quote
Alfred Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Seven days is ridiculously short for anyone who is busy with other things, but if you purchase from the Affinity Store (rather than the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store) you do get a 14-day ‘no quibble’ money back guarantee, effectively extending the trial period to 21 days. https://store.serif.com/help/#returns Nigel Strudwick 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
