I used Publisher to add a hyperlink to "More About Amanda & Peggy" in the attached photo. When I publish the photo as the hero image on my client's website, the hyperlink doesn't work.

Also, how do I add shading to the text area background to make the text stand out more?

What kind of file type are you using to export/publish the image to?

The hyperlink won’t work if you are exporting to something like a PNG or JPEG.

If you want to use a hyperlink in text over an image on a web page then it’s probably better to do that in the HTML/CSS rather than in the image.

I edited my above post just before you responded.

I gave the extra information: If you want to use a hyperlink in text over an image on a web page then it’s probably better to do that in the HTML/CSS rather than in the image.

Otherwise you might have to use a PDF which might be very awkward to use in a web page.

Just an aside, but white text on a pale grey background is really quite difficult to read!

I have read that the only Affinity product that will allow hyperlinked text is Publisher which is why I used it to create the hyperlink. Is my understanding incorrect?

How do I change the white text background to a shade that will allow the text to be read less difficult to read?

Only Publisher will allow you to create hyperlinks but they won’t work with JPEGs.

A JPEG is just a bunch of coloured pixels and, as such (as far as I’m aware), it cannot contain a text-based hyperlink.

Text over an image in a web page is best done with the HTML/CSS rather then anything else as the web page can set the image and text size/position etc. as required depending on device etc.

And you can set the shading behind the text in the HTML/CSS too.

I haven’t created a web page since HTML5 came out so I can’t tell you current best practices for any of this, and it probably depends on which framework (or whatever) you’re using, and it’s probably not relevant to the Affinity applications.

As suggested, I've implemented html features to do what I want.

Thanks for the education.
