InDesign to Affinity 2, spacebar not working between words.

I'm moving from InDesign to Affinity Designer 2 and trying to get all my fonts working in my documents again. I got Keedy Sans to work, but now it won't let me add spaces between the words. I looked at an earlier post about this but what they did to fix it isn't working for me. I've included the line of text that's not budging. Attached are the words that are 'stuck together.'  Thanks so much.

I do not have that font but when I open the file, using the default substitution font, Preview mode, & Text > Show special characters I see that there are multiple spaces between the words, & I can add or remove more of them in the usual way. (Note the dots in the screenshot below.)

So maybe this is an issue with that font?

APub says the font is KeedySansReg - which is a really old conversion from Type 1.
Some of these old conversions have old control characters multi-mapped to the space character.
That could be an issue.
Current versions of the font do not have any of those control characters.
And they do include very basic frac and liga features, and some kerning.

I do not have any problems with the spaces and this font on Win10.

What happens if you change the font - does the problem go away?

Thanks, RC-R, I think it's what APub says, I'm using an old style of Keedy Sans and I need to get the new one. The spaces here are because I kept trying to make a space in Keedy and nothing showed up.

This could be it - yep, when I change the font the problem goes away. Thank you so much!! I'll download a new Keedy, or change the heds throughout the book.

Thanks, Walt! I know I messed things up here replying to replies. This is the first time a reply box appeared for some reason — strange. I was only getting the reply from people, plus a + Quote. Weird. Sorry, everyone! I knew I was making a mess but couldn't delete the extra replies and all the quote business. I'll 'do better,' as they like to say these days. Really appreciate the help I've gotten here, thank you all again.

That's usual, I think. For example, this is what I see for your post:

And when I click on Quote this is what I get. Note the cursor for typing is after the box containing the quoted text, and perfectly positioned for adding my response in a non-confusing way
