ddd123 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Every single time I open Affinity Designer, I click to turn on Toggle Sculpt Mode and Auto Close in the Pencil Tool and change the Brush Pressure Controller to Brush Defaults, and every single time I close the software it forgets all my settings 😭 Surely these settings should remember what the user sets them to? Also, kind of crazy that the default for Brush Pressure Controller isn't Brush Defaults in my opinion, but of course if it just remembered what you set it to that wouldn't be a problem 😁 cas_s, n_shcherbakov and KLE-France 3 Quote
KLE-France Posted January 29 Posted January 29 This indeed is another of my Affinity "little things." Not major, not the end of the world, but... ... Every tool should remember its last-used state, and every tool should have a "Reset to defaults" button. Or, in other words, "+1". Quote
n_shcherbakov Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I'm totally support your suggestion. I've been writing about it for two years now, though 😞 Here Here And here Quote
PROdult Posted February 3 Posted February 3 A small annoyance outgrows its infancy and becomes a major issue when it happens repeatedly. Serious and skilled designers must keep their focus on creation - constantly and exclusively. They shouldn’t have to fumble with settings, and the tool must not demand attention or require constant workarounds. Imagination and ideas are humanity’s greatest gift. Disruptions to concentration and rhythm are primitive and simply diminish a product’s potential for a given task. KLE-France 1 Quote
cas_s Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Agreed. When "small" things repeatedly interrupt my workflow, frustration adds up. Sometimes I just want to switch between two brushes and fine-tune on the fly without saving every single permutation. I can't believe there's no way to do that. I *want* to switch to Photo! I wish I wouldn't keep finding weirdly missing features that make me weigh the extra time and aggravation. I want to like it. Quote
PaulEC Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Probably my biggest complaint about Affinity software is the apparently random decisions about default and "sticky" settings! For example, in Publisher, if you set up your publication as facing pages, it keeps defaulting to export as facing pages every time you open the export dialogue. If I set a document to export as single pages why do the developers think I want it changed to facing pages next time I export the same document? Another thing, when creating a new document, facing or single pages isn't sticky, yet the number of pages is! Surely it's more likely that, if you choose single pages, that is a setting you want keep, rather than having the same number of pages in every publication! Given the choice, I would prefer all settings to be sticky and stay as I choose to set them. (Although an option in Settings to reset everything to a "factory" default might be useful.)
