AdriZ Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I designed this logo. Unfortunately, when I export it as a PNG, the curve under the ear becomes irregular. The curve is smooth in the afdesign file. But I can see that "bug" when I zoom a lot, and only at specific zoom levels. Example of a zoom where we can see the curve is fine: And if I zoom a little bit more, the weird curve appears: It can disappear or change if I zoom more. I've attached my .afdesign file. Thanks a lot for your help. AdriZ PS: The attached images are copyrighted and not free to use. icon-12_forum.afdesign Quote
AdriZ Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 I forgot to mention. I use Affinity Designer 2.5.7 on macOS Big Sur 11.7.10. Quote
R C-R Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I am not seeing any irregularity when I zoom in & out in AD, nor when I export your file to PNG but I do not know what export preset or settings you are using & I only tested with a few. That said, the symbol structure of the AD file seems overly complicated. I am not sure what purpose symbols serve in your design to begin with or why some attributes are unlinked; however I do not know if this is relevant to your results. carl123 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Select the curve layer indicated below and change the Mitre value from 1.5 to 2 and that should cure the export problem The fact that what you see on the canvas does not match what you get on export, probably classes this as a bug. But the support staff will verify that once they get around to this thread Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Staff NathanC Posted January 28 Staff Posted January 28 Hi @AdriZ, Can confirm I've replicated this issue with your file and logged it with the developers for further investigation. AdriZ 1 Quote

Thank you for trying to reproduce and for your reply. I've attached my export parameters. I'm a newbie amateur in Affinity Designer (and Vector design and logo design 😅), it's my second project. I didn't manage to do it simpler. Symbols are used to be able to change all of them easily. I used symbols for the head and body because I needed twice the same curve (one for the fill and another one to erase the image below the stroke). The legs have different lengths (so the unlinked attributes) because if one overlaps the cloudy body, few pixels are not erased at the edge of the body (due to antialiasing). Quote

Hi @NathanC Thank you so much. If you have an idea how to get round this problem, I'd love to hear it too. I have a previous version of the file on which I didn't notice the problem. Oh, between these two version, I think I mainly changed the document size and resolution. Perhaps it can help... Quote
AdriZ Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 By the way @NathanC, I changed document size and resolution because Artboard don't work on that design. Here the result of adding an Artboard. The strokes that erase the other layers don't erase anymore. Quote
AdriZ Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 With the help of @R C-R comment, I've found a way around the problem! Exporting at 2500px or even 3100px wide (instead of 3000px) give good results. For the moment, it fits my needs. Thank you guys. Quote

And wondering about these parameters made me think about it. Quote
