Hi everyone,
Iam experiencing an issue with Affinity Photo where the workspace shows a black screen instead of my image. The tools and menus are working fine, but I cannot see or edit anything on the canvas.

I have tried restarting the app, updating to the latest version, and even reinstalling it, but the problem persists. Iam using Affinity Photo . Could this be a GPU rendering issue or a display setting problem?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @romromillys and welcome to the forums.

Are Windows and the drivers for the GPU up to date?

If so, try deactivating hardware acceleration in Affinity Photo under Edit menu > Preferences > Performance.

Do you ever use multiple monitors, @romromillys? If so, are they all attached and powered on?

Thank you for the warm welcome and the suggestion! 😊 I just checked, and both Windows and my GPU drivers are fully updated. I also tried deactivating hardware acceleration as you recommended (Edit menu > Preferences > Performance), but unfortunately, the black screen issue persists.

Could there be any other settings I should adjust, or might this be related to a specific GPU compatibility issue? Iam happy to share more details if needed. Thanks again for your help!

Hey @romromillys,

Could you provide a screen recording demonstrating this issue when opening a document? At the same time, have the 'Navigator' panel open (Window -> Navigator) to confirm if the canvas contents are visible in the smaller navigator preview window. If you could also open your Edit -> Settings -> Performance menu as a part of the recording so we can see your settings that would be great.

Could you also confirm if you're running the apps on a Virtual Machine environment?

Thanks
