In the help I found the following for deleting table contents: Use the backspace key.

If that is currently the only way to delete table contents !? I would like to request that further options be given. Selecting several / all cells and using the DEL key would be a good start :)

I can already do that in the Windows version of 2.5.7.

And it seems to do the same if I use the backspace key rather than the DEL key.

Can you be more specific about your requirements?

You can delete a table of contents by clicking the Delete icon in the TOC panel.

Is the OP asking about a TOC or a table?

I can do the same in the Mac version using the Delete keyboard key. My Mac keyboard does not have a separate backspace key but its forward delete key also deletes the content of the selected table cells.

You're correct, the OP is asking about the content in a table, not a table of contents. Oops.

The Del key has no reaction. Only Backspace works for me, therefore each cell individually. I think I now know why. It's a numbered list, that must be the problem. Numbered lists in tables (I have not tried it without a table) must be treated with backspace.
I change my post with a sorry, it works in tables, just not with numbered lists. Thanks for your feedback, I was able to find the answer.
