lauram315 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I'm current using version 1.10.1.1142, I've recently purchased an additional internal hard drive, and would like to move some programs over to that one, including Designer as I don't use it that often. However, I can't move directly as the hard drives are different types. So I have to uninstall and reinstall in the new location. On trying to uninstall I get the following error: "Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.tga\OpenWithProgids. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." I get the same error when trying to update to the newer version too. So I tried uninstalling using Revo - didn't work. I tried editing the registry permissions in regedit. But that file won't let me take ownership of it, even as an administrator using the advance settings. So I'm a bit stuck - anyone got any ideas? I have just updated to Windows 11 - will that have made a difference? Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity forums, @lauram315. Purely a guess, but if uninstalling is failing, you might try the Microsoft Uninstall Troubleshooter. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. lauram315 Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 (edited) Sadly that didn't work either 😕 I've tried un-installing Affinity Publisher, same error. Edited December 29, 2024 by lauram315 Quote
lauram315 Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 I've attached the setup logs - basically trying to uninstall or update fails when it tries to open that registry key. I cannot take ownership of it. The system will not let me. I can go through to the advanced settings and select the ones I need, but it won't save them. So the programs fail to update or uninstall. I only have this problem with Serif software. Others are fine. Setup.log SetupUI.log Quote
carl123 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Your setupui.log give this error message "MsiOperation result: 1603" Which can be a few things but being short of space on your main system drive is one of them The rest can be found in this article https://www.partitionwizard.com/resizepartition/msi-error-1603.html Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Staff DWright Posted January 21 Staff Posted January 21 Hi @lauram315, If you have not run low on space on your C drive please try right clicking the Publisher installer and select the option Run as administrator to give the installer higher permissions. Quote
