Benfischer Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 The attached video is for Affinity Photo 2.5.7, but the same happens for Designer and also in the 2.6 Beta. When I use the color picker, I get a preview of the color under the eye dropper, but the RGB code is always white. Even in the non-canvas areas of the Affinity window (ie, the Studio or menu area) no matter what color is under the eyedropper, only white is added to the color well. I have permissions for screen recording turned on, as shown in the video. Any ideas? thanks Screen Recording 2024-12-26 at 7.01.11 PM.mov Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Sounds like you're experiencing known issue AF-504, which seems to be triggered (for at least some users) by the kind of cable connection you have to your monitor. USB-C connections seem to work, but Display Port (HDMI) connections show this problem. I don't think there are any known fixes other than changing the kind of connection you're using. Can you provide more information about your Mac, the monitor you're using, and how it's connected? Benfischer Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Mac Mini (M2 pro) with Samsung 27" 4k Display. Connected with USB C cable. With such a low AF number, it's probably not going to be fixed I've had problems with colors getting jacked when importing screen shots into Affinity, I can't sample the original colors form outside the app either. Just FWIW, other applications, like Excel for instance, are able to color pick from any place on the desktop or other applications without needing Screen recording permission. The only difference the Screen recording permission makes is that with permission turned off, the color picker loupe doesn't see any other window. If I hover the loupe over a webpage, for instance, the colors in the loupe image are from the desktop, whereas if I have the permissions turned on, the magnified image is from the window the cursor is hovering over. But in either case, the color that's picked is 255,255,255 Quote
Benfischer Posted Wednesday at 11:57 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 11:57 PM Update, just to make me crazy. I recently added another monitor to my desktop set up and now the color picker is picking colors correctly, on both monitors. My old monitor (Samsung) is connected to my Mac mini thru USBC, which is the same as the previous setup and my 2nd monitor is connected with HDMI. Both work fine. I can even pick correctly pick colors from the other monitor (not the one the app is running on). 🤷♂️ Quote
