JohnoGolfer Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 managed to get it to not crash on select subject or using the object selection tool but this is only for jpegs. Raw files just crash, however this is the result of using the object selection tool (see screenshot) it selects a part of the mage but it doesn't select the spoon at all. Am I doing something wrong? the select subject option doesn't do anything it doesn't select an object. these are all stock images and none work as expected. I tried one of my images with even worse results! (see deer screenshot). in all of the scene only a couple of rocks are selectable the main subject is not. I think this could be a great feature if it works. p.s. Ive also tried rasterising the image to see if that helps but not 😞 iMac 2019 3 GHz 6-core intel core i5 64 gb rab Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB Sequoia 15.1 Quote
carl123 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 I can only test with your screenshots but both selection methods work for me on Windows Someone with a Mac (Sequoia 15.1) would be best to test them as well Assuming these are the free stock images you get with the Affinity apps, can you upload them or some pointers how to find them quickly in an Affinity stock search Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
Staff MEB Posted October 30, 2024 Staff Posted October 30, 2024 Hi @JohnoGolfer, Welcome to Affinity Forum Did you set the Inference to CPU Only in Affinity Settings, Machine Learning Models section? If it is set to "CPU and GPU" please change to CPU Only and check if you still have issues. JohnoGolfer 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
JohnoGolfer Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 Thanks @MEB I’ll give that a go tonight Quote
JohnoGolfer Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 Hi @MEB, yep setting it to CPU only resolved the issue and it works as expected now 🙂 MEB 1 Quote
Staff MEB Posted November 1, 2024 Staff Posted November 1, 2024 Glad to know it's all working. Thanks for the feedback. JohnoGolfer 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Staff MEB Posted November 1, 2024 Staff Posted November 1, 2024 Hi @JohnoGolfer, We've introduced some changes in the beta build released a short while ago, one of them refers to the object selection tool. Unfortunately, support for Intel Macs has been removed. "COMPATIBILITY: Sorry but due to the functions we need to run the Object Selection and Subject Selection functionality, the Machine Learning features only available on Apple Silicon iPads and macOS devices (and those need to be running on a recent macOS, as Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey do not support the required calls). Machine Learning will run on both Windows x64 and Arm64 hardware running Windows 10 or Windows 11." Here's the link to the relevant feature discussion on the Beta Forums. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Patrick Connor and JohnoGolfer 2 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
