Gritty_Fingers
I am using the Grave Etcher brushes and I noticed that they default to the 370px brush width. Usually I lower the width to work on the picture I am dealing with. Every time I switch brushes, It goes back to the default 370 px width. I find this really annoying. Is there any way to globally lower all the brushes so it's down to 24 px (or whatever size I want)? I don't see anything in the documentation so I'm hoping the forum has an answer. GarryP
Someone with better knowledge in this area might be able to give you better advice but I think you can create a copy of a Brush with your own settings. In the Brushes Panel, select a brush, right-click it, choose “Duplicate Brush”, then change the settings for the duplicate, and maybe rename it too while you are on. I don’t know if this works with all brushes in all Personas or with purchased Brush Packs. Gritty_Fingers

Click the More button on the context toolbar Resize the brush Click Save As... & give it a name You have to do each brush separately there is no global setting Gritty_Fingers 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Ldina
@Gritty_Fingers If you hold down the Option Key (on Mac) when selecting a new brush, it will retain the currently set stroke width. So, if your brush stroke width is currently set to 50, hold down Opt and click on your new brush, and it should also be set to 50 width. Gritty_Fingers
Holding Option Key (or control key for windows) doesn't seem to work. I am using the Vector Brush tool and every time I switch brushes (which happens a lot); It keeps going back to the default width. It's a bit of a dealbreaker for me using the downloaded brush pack. Ldina
@Gritty_Fingers Try the ALT key instead of the Control key. More often than not, the ALT key on Windows is synonymous with the OPT key on Mac. I'm on a Mac, obviously, but I'd think that ought to work on Windows. Gritty_Fingers
Thanks everyone. Ldina -Your suggestion works- sort of. I do have a problem with the hand coordination though. I have a tendency of clicking "alt" on the canvas which turns it to an eyedropper tool. Also there are times I forget to click ALT when I am selecting a brush. I think Affinity needs to offer a better solution - an option to lock down the brush size globally. Thank you for your effort in helping me out. I appreciate it. Ldina
You’re welcome. if you ALT-click on the canvas, you select the color under your cursor. If you hold down ALT first, then while holding ALT, click on your desired brush, you select the new brush, but the stroke size remains the same. It’s a muscle memory thing and becomes automatic with a little practice.
