NFlo Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 I've just joined the Forum because, for the first time Affinity Photo 2 won't update to the latest version and I hope I'm in the right place to get some help. When I open Affinity Photo 2 I get a box asking if I'd like to install the update but nothing happens and everything freezes in the program, but the rest of the PC is OK. The only way to get Affinity Photo 2 to close is to use the Task Manager to end the task. Yesterday, for the first time I did get a notification saying it was calculating the memory requirements, but since trying then and today I don't even get that. Is there anything I can do? In the past whenever I've clicked Install it's always worked. Thanks for any help anyone can offer. Quote
Staff MEB Posted September 12, 2024 Staff Posted September 12, 2024 Hi @NFlo, Welcome to Affinity Forums Have you checked if there's another dialog/notification open behind, hidden, waiting from some action from you? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
NFlo Posted September 12, 2024 Author Posted September 12, 2024 Hi @MEB and thanks for your reply. I don't think so because I can move the box around and there's nothing behind it. In the past, I've clicked on Install and it's always worked, but not this time! Quote

NFlo Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 I still can't update from 2.5.3 to 2.5.5. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. Quote
walt.farrell Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 You can download the MSIX installer file, and run it manually. You can get it from https://affinity.store/update/windows/photo/2 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. That sounds like your Windows installation is broken. A search on 0x80073cf9 windows msix install error leads to https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-store-error-code-0x80073cf9/e1a822e1-14ca-4afd-ba3c-b5418db48182 which has some suggestions. I haven't examined them in any detail. Other than that, this Affinity FAQ may help, but it doesn't seem to specifically address 0x80073cf9, so the Microsoft answer above may be the best way to go, but I would first review the Affinity FAQ and check the things it mentions.
