MiWe Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 I have just observed a strange behavior of Designer in connection with artboards, guides and placed images. create a new document including artboard create a guideline within the artboard, horizontal or vertical does not matter place an image file outside the artboard (drag and drop or via menu command), tested with JPG, PNG, AFPHOTO the result is that the guideline disappears, the guideline is also no longer displayed in the guideline dialog. deleting the image file immediately displays the guideline again does not happen when placing the image within the artboard Can anyone reproduce this behavior? Ron P. Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Yes, I'm not sure but I think this is by design. I checked back to V1 and they all behave the same way. I also just tried clicking on the image, then back to the Artboard. When I clicked/selected the Artboard again, the Guides were there. Leave the Guides manager open and you can see them come back too. Quote Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions. walt.farrell Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 In a document with Artboards, Guides are specific to the Artboard that was active when you created them. It sounds like you've switched away from that Artboard when working with your Placed document, and therefore that Artboard's Guides won't be visible again until you once again select that Artboard in the Layers panel. MiWe Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Yes, happens also when you create any shape beside the artboard. So the artboard must be active to show the guides belonging to it … Seems to be right. Thanks for answering. Quote
