Cat00 Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Hello, Very new to Affinity Designer, used to using illustrator but only for preparing things for screen printing. I've opened Affinity and its all different to what it was a few days ago and I either have no panels or they are there but unusable? I have a left tool bar but it wont let me select anything so I have no cursor, I also have no panels on the left, which I believe is called the right Studio and I also don't have access to the top of the program so I can't drag it over to my tablet to use with a stylus etc? I have tried pretty much every button in View and Window, I have right and left studio ticked on, I have Brushes etc all ticked on. I've Reset Studio, I've pressed Escape and Tab, I've pressed full screen on and off, it makes not difference. I've restarted the program and the computer, updated it. I turned the 2 Personas on and off, googled it etc I can't do any work, if anyone could help I'd be very grateful. Im using a Macbook on Ventura and Affinity 2. Quote

Dan C Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Hi @Cat00, Welcome to the Affinity Forums & sorry to hear you're having trouble! It sounds as though you've taken all of the steps we'd usually recommend, the only thing I haven't seen mention of in your comment is the presence of an active document - certain UI elements may not respond as expected when no file is open, so please create or open a file and try once again. If you're still having trouble after doing this - can you please provide a screen recording showing this issue for me, as this should help us to assist further Quote
Cat00 Posted May 21, 2024 Author Posted May 21, 2024 Hello! Well as is typical I couldn't reply when I wanted to so I put my computer away for a few hours, I opened it up again and low and behold things were working again. It turns out that my Right Studio was off the screen but because it wouldn't let me have a curser or click the top of the programme/page thingy I couldn't move anything so I couldn't see it! I think maybe it was a glitch? I had restarted the program and the whole computer more than once and each time it came back still nothing worked so I don't know 🤷♀️. Thank you for trying to help, I'd lost the only opportunity I had in the day to get any work done which was very frustrating so it was very reassuring knowing that there are people out there willing and able to help. I will most likely be in touch again! Cheers, Cat Dan C 1 Quote

Do you ever use multiple monitors, and did you have them all attached this time? If not, that can cause problems. If it happens again, try Window > Zoom. I never did get Affinity over to my tablet though...I will definitely try the window zoom thing thanks! walt.farrell 1 Quote
