Phil P
I am running Windows 10, updated, and Affinity 2.4.2. All Personas were updated a few weeks ago, and things worked well. Now, however, while working on a project, I cannot switch from Photo to Designer (and vice versa). A new problem popped up just the other day: unable to open Publisher at all. The Publisher icon on my taskbar is smaller than before, perhaps that's a clue to what's going on. I purchased the original Affinity suite from Serif, as well as all upgrades (including V2). Would it be best, or simpler, to delete and reinstall? (I have my version 2 License key). Would that fix these problems? Or is that even possible? I don't even know where these apps are located on my computer anymore. If I can find the executables, must I delete the programs and purchase them again? Attached are screenshots of the taskbar, an open Photo editing screen, and the error message I get when trying to switch from Photo to Designer. Thanks for all help. Are you using the Photo application's menu File > Edit in Designer. Or are you doing as I do all too frequently trying to open the file from Designer with Designer's menu File > Open... When I do the latter I see the Mac version of your screenshot. File > Edit in Designer is the way to do this. It will close the file in Photo and open it in Designer> Do what you want to and then use File > Edit in Designer to return to Designer. Phil P
Hi Old Bruce, and thanks for the help. I always use File>Edit in Designer. And when I'm in Designer and attempt to edit in photo, I get the screenshot attached. In addition, as you can see from the taskbar, Publisher won't open at all. Head scratcher. Old Bruce
That is something I have never seen. A file extension .afmigrate. Must be a Windows thing. Perhaps related to the L drive that the .afphoto is on. Phil P
The .afphoto is on the L drive? I'll unplug the L drive and try again, but in looking at my L drive, I don't see .afphoto there. The extension is attached to the Flag image that I was working on, but I don't see the app there. But I am by no means an expert in file management, not even close. Do you think that simply saving an image to a thumb drive could cause these problems? OK, I unplugged the L drive, which is a thumb drive, and went through the process again, by attempting to edit images that are on my C drive. Same results. And Publisher still won't open. I'm trying to write a program for a non-profit here in town, but without the word wrap function, it's going to be difficult. Any other ideas? THANKS! Staff Lee D Posted May 16 Staff Share Posted May 16 @Phil P You may have a mixture of MSIX and MSI/EXE on your system. To ensure all are the same, the best option may be to uninstall all three apps from your system. If you open Apps & Features within Windows they should be listed to uninstall. Once uninstalled, login to your Affinity Store account and download the MSI/EXE versions, see here for more information. Once you've downloaded all three .exe, right click and run them as Admin and follow the prompts to complete the install. Once all of them are installed, check to make sure each app opens.
