Brem Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Hi everybody, I am new with Publisher V2 but used all the Pageplus series. In Pageplus my favorite tool was to position precise text, objects etc.. with the X and Y positioning tool. You have a small arrow aside the X and Y coordinates to move the object etc. In Publisher the X and Y coordinates are still visible, but I find not adjustment tool to move exactly. Does somebody know if this can?, as moving with the move tool is not that accurate. Thanks for helping me out. Quote
GarryP Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Welcome to the forums @Brem You might like to look at the Transform Panel. If you cannot see it, use menu “Window → Transform Panel”. See attached image. Quote

Hi @Brem, welcome in the forum. Publisher doesn't have increment-decrease buttons next to the right of the X and Y coordinate input fields like PagePlus has, but you are not at a loss. You can make precise adjustments in Transform panel in a couple of ways: You can type the precise value and confirm it by pressing Return [Enter] key. That's obvious but nothing special. You can use expressions in those input fileds. An example: if you type +=20 into the field and press the Return [Enter] key, the value of that field wil increase by 20. More can be found in the docs under the Expressions for field input section. You can also make use of the so called "click + drag gesture" that is supported by the input fields labels. In simple, you can click on the input label and drag either left or right and the values wilch increase or decrease. Cool, huhhh😎. You can also use Shift key or Ctrl key while dragging to change the step increment amount. Shift changes the value by 10 * unit, Ctrl changes the value in 0,1 unit. As you can see, it's not bad, right? If you get used to it, you won't miss the increase/decrease buttons from PagePlus.😉 Quote
Brem Posted April 30, 2024 Author Posted April 30, 2024 Hi Garry, Thank for your info. I have the transform panel but not the arrows to move as show in Pageplus, see the screen photo..... Now you can move around with 0.01mm without inserting a number by hand..... Quote
Brem Posted April 30, 2024 Author Posted April 30, 2024 Hi Bbrother, Thanks for your explanation. I understand now the possibilities. Still miss this function, but ok...... Quote

bbrother Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 You can also precise nudge the object after it's being select, just using the keyboard arrow keys without using the Transform panel. The nudge distance can be set in Settings → Tools → Nudge distance / Modifier nudge distance. (see screenshot below↓) Settings for nudge distance (click to enlarge) Quote
GarryP Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 In addition to the advice above, you can also use a keyboard up/down arrow key to increment/decrement the value when the field has focus, or you can select the layer and then use the keyboard arrows to move the layer. You can also use Ctrl/Shift/Alt/Cmd modifiers with most of these. Quote
