eobet
Also, when I have disabled the visibility and editability of all channels except alpha and do a select all the copy, why does it still copy all the channels to the clipboard?
iconoclast
Hi eobet! Take a look at the context bar at the top of the GUI. Is Transparency locked (the checkbox on the very right side)? Or is black selected as foreground colour?

So what about the colour you are painting with? Black on black will of course not cause visible results. I checked it with on my PC, and it worked corrctly. Deactivated Alpha only doesn't cause this problem. Another idea: is there possibly a hidden selection somewhere on that document? In that case, you can only paint inside the selection. NotMyFault
Try to only show the alpha channel, and if the black area is white (you can paint) or black (you cannot paint because you disabled the alpha channel.). Affinity will enforce black for all color channels whenever alpha is black / zero. You immediately spot this when deactivating alpha channel. All transparent pixel become black (while normally shown white or checkered board). eobet 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
