Does V2 properly support Japanese now? Namely:

  1. Vertical text support. Sometimes you need to write text vertically in Asian languages.
  2. Furigana support. Furigana are the smaller characters that appear above (in horizontal text) or to the right (in vertical text) of the main text to help the reader determine how to pronounce the characters.

This is a pain point in V1 and was hoping that V2 has it covered.

In a word, no.

No. If it did, it would be listed in the What's New information on the website: https://affinity.serif.com/whats-new

Since I only need proper horizontal writing support, may I ask if this one is correctly achieved, ...

I suspect that much the best way to determine the answer to that question is to try it yourself, using a trial version if you don’t yet own any of the version 2 Affinity apps.

... at least in Publisher?

Text handling seems to be pretty consistent across the Affinity range, although Publisher does offer a couple of extra options.

Not a native speaker, I know how delicate Japanese typography is. I can obviously involve my partners in some tests, but I would have liked to first get some more information here.

I'm a bit surprised by the secrecy surrounding this matter. I've asked this question more times, but it looks like CJK language speakers are very reluctant in talking about it.

I’ve noticed quite a few posts from speakers of CJK languages, but they’ve mostly been C! I suspect that they and the relatively few K speakers don’t feel confident about publicly expressing their views on “delicate Japanese typography”.
