I understand it's possible in Publisher to create a hyperlink (for text at least) to an external site, but not in Designer (though it's possible to export a PDF). I've just finished a doc in Designer and need some links, but just realised it's not possible - so currently I'm contemplating using an external utility to insert links to exported PDFs. It would be good to avoid that and be able to natively setup a link in Designer, so if the doc is exported as a PDF then it can be used there.

The link should not have any bounding rectangle or comment/annotation associated with it (that may appear when viewing the doc in PDF) - just an invisible zone that has contains the link (mouse rollover shows the 'hyperlink present' cursor).

Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks - I obviously did not search well enough (I only searched this suggestion forum). It's been 4 years, so hopefully it might be reconsidered at some point.

The search functionality in these forums isn’t the best in the world and a recent change to how it works hasn’t been noticed by everyone.

Some people often recommend searching via more-generalised web search sites (such as Google), maybe with the site:forum.affinity.serif.com modifier (or equivalent) added, to get better results.

For anyone reading this, if you have Designer and Publisher, and they are of the same version you can:

  • quickly ‘switch’ from Designer to Publisher to add hyperlinks and then ‘switch back’ to Designer via the “File → Edit In <application>” menu items, or;
  • work in Publisher and go to the Designer Persona to do most (but not all) Designer-specific things and then go back to the Publisher Persona.
