Khyber
Hey all me again, long time no post lol. But today I need help recreating this text effect for a client. He saw this poster and wanted me to recreate this effect with the pictures I took of his car. I’m having trouble getting the smaller text of “kills” to just pick up the background image and not the larger text like the picture provided shows. Any help would be much appreciated

GarryP
To help other people who are looking to achieve the same effect, it might be good if you can give more details about what you did to achieve it. Alfred
G13RL
I don't know how OP did it, but I would group smoking and kills, set the kills blend to "Erase". Then I would duplicate kills and remove the fill from the copy while outlining it and setting its blend to "normal".

If you want to keep the text as vector on export, I'd go e.g. via symbols and boolean compound: ade_symbols_compound_erase_effect_text.mp4 (Side note: I just noticed a bug with boolean compound not updating text attributes. Reported here.) Partially synced symbols are marked by the dashed orange line in the Layers panel.
