Affinity Designer v1 Ipad - A Perfect Circle As Guide Object On A Curvy Line

Recommended Posts

Question 1) I want to put a Perfect Circle as Guide Object on a Curvy Line. But It DOES NOT SNAP to the Line 1. (As you see the Pink Circle)

How can I snap It?

(So that I will be able to put another curvy line 1.5 cm away.

I’m trying to merge the edges of the two lines. (Line 1 and Line 2))

Question 2) Another solutions for what I’m trying to do?

🤔 Snapping via a circle to lines won't really work here (see for example this related thread).

Other tries/workarounds would be ...

  • to draw your lines with a double (even distributed distance) compound line brush
  • to draw symmetrical with the help of symbols
  • to enhance your line stroke and then expand stroke, afterwards to remove the applied fill and set instead a stroke color. Then remove on both sides the end line nodes which close the whole outline shape
  • to draw one slightly thicker stroked line and use an third-party auto vector tracer to perform an vectorization outline trace of your line drawing
  • ...
  • ... and so on, possible other ways ...

Another alternative method: use the Contour Tool.

  1. Duplicate Line 1.
  2. Add a contour of size 1.5cm
  3. Convert to curves.
  4. Delete the unwanted inside of the contour.
