Affinity Photo can't open a file made with the same Affinity Photo!

That's usually generated by a temporary file that hasn't closed correctly. Can you please navigate to "~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo/temp" and see if you have any files here? If you do, delete them, then open Affinity Photo again and see if the problem persists.

Hi @albertkinng,

After you Force Quit Affinity Photo, there will be a hidden lock file left behind, which is why you get the error when you try to open the same file in Affinity Designer.  If you view your hidden files, you should be able to see the lock file and delete it.  By default that lock file would be deleted when the file is clearly closed but doesn't when the app is force quitted.

For loading issue, is your Desktop set to be backed up to iCloud?  If so, can you try this, click Apple > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders > expand each app and please disable 'iCloud Drive' for each app.  Then see if you are able to open that file without the delay?

And humble too.

Of course that was meant ironically. - And the secret to success here is very simple, good research (and remembering things) is half the battle. 😉
