New Publisher 2 user here, and I'm thoroughly impressed by it and especially its ability to open IDML files so accurately. One thing, though, is making it a bit difficult to move completely to Publisher: keyboard shortcuts. I've been using InDesign since version 1.0 and the keyboard shortcuts are now a part of my DNA. I've been able to customize them as much as possible, but there is still a number of shortcuts that I use a lot in ID that aren't available in Publisher.

Is that a question about keyboard shortcuts, or a feature request for more shortcuts, or just a statement about the existing shortcuts?

Because InDesign and Publisher have different ways of working, and have different feature sets, there will probably always be certain shortcuts in one which don’t (and may never have) have an equivalent in the other.

If you can be a bit more specific about what you are wanting/suggesting/asking then we can probably help further.

It would help a lot if you listed at least some of these shortcuts. Otherwise how would we know if there are equivalents or alternatives that might work for you in Apub?

Well, I haven't spent nearly as much time with Publisher as InDesign, but I'm getting there. I do realize there are functions in ID that aren't in Publisher.

One thing I find problematic is that you can't view a single page if you're working on something with spreads. I do a lot of book correcting, so I need to see each page as large as possible. In ID I use Cmd-0 to Fit Page in Window. In Publisher it seems that if the job is using spreads each spread is shown as a "page" so even if I use Zoom to Fit I have to switch to the hand tool and manually center and enlarge each page so I can do the corrections accurately. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's clumsy.

I do not know of any keyboard shortcut for that, nor any way to display just one page of a two page spread, but if in the Pages panel thumbnails you double-click on either page (rather than on the area between them) that page will be centered in the workspace window in the largest size that fits in the window (determined by the page height for horizontal spreads or the width for vertical ones).

That at least is a single step, if not one using the keyboard.

Thank you, R C-R! That works perfectly! Obviously I have a lot of learning to do.
