Hello, I'm looking for free or paid analog film presets. Does anyone know where I can find them?

I found some for Lightroom, but it seems quite tedious to convert them for use in Affinity.

Some examples in photos of what I'm looking for.

Thank you in advance.

Until the end of January (so hurry if you want it!!!) the ON1 Effects app & its plugin (which works with AP) are free. It includes a variety of color film presets you could use to simulate various Agfa, Fujifilm, Kodak, & several other film looks.

The UI is weird enough that it may take quite a while to figure out how to do things with it but there are tons of videos to help with that.

Well there are a bunch of third party LUTs and specific analog film tools & filters for such purposes, beside those already named above ...

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

I have no experience with some of these suggestions but the ON 1 Effects film look presets give you a ton of control over the look. For instance, the Fujifilm Velvia 50 preset adds these 3 different filters:

Each of them expands that together offer more options than I can count.

I suppose most of the film emulation plug-ins have additional controls...

As I understand it, the ON 1 color film presets are not plugins as such, just sets of filters with preset values applied, most of which can be adjusted in numerous ways. Perhaps the most unusual feature of all the filters is AI-assisted masking.

Anyway, I am just scratching the surface of what these & the other presets are capable of doing, so I suggest trying them out for yourselves if interested.

I suppose that's the way film emulation "packages" typically work: they are essentially film grain emulators (and I suppose normally based on scans and curves built on real film data) and then apply HSL etc. adjustments to get the tones and other factors right to create a good emulation.

The ON 1 color film presets offer so many adjustment options that I can't even show all them for the Color Enhancer filter in one screenshot, but here's a partial view with none of the expandable options opened (click for larger view):

ColorEnhancer.jpg.17e49a123526cad962c0556fc872ce5d.jpg

The white rectangle is the mask button; when opened it has AI & other options. The cog wheel exposes blend options that can be used to limit the filter to color or tonal ranges; the row starting with the Auto button has more 'style' options that affect color ranges; there are 2 pickers for removing color casts & adjusting something I'm not sure of yet; & so on.

The Tone Enhancer has fewer controls & options but like all the other filters have similar mask & blend options plus an "Auto" style option to automatically improve contrast.

Point being, this is very powerful & extremely flexible software; so much so that it may be overkill for simple film emulation needs. The UI is, at least to me, not very user-friendly, so the learning curve may be extreme.

Anyway, until the end of the month the price can't be beat for what it offers, so even if you have no immediate need for it, it may well be worth getting.

It's pretty much the same as for other tools like NIK Analog Effex + Color Effex, Analog Projects, Topaz Studio ... etc. for the fine tuning of several aspects & attributes & effects of/for an loaded image and the selected filter or preset type. - So it's more the overall adjustment capabilities which several such tools offer here for an image.

How many if any of them include built-in AI-powered tools or straightforward ways to create new presets directly in the UI?

I'm asking because the only other one I have to compare to is the old Google NIK stuff, which has considerably fewer controls & options vs. the ON 1 Effects color film presets, & of course no AI stuff at all.

AI stuff, AFAIK the Topaz & Luminar tools nowadays which do also offer such things included beside a bunch of other things.

I only did a quick web search but it appears that Topaz Photo AI 2 may not offer film presets or LUTs as such, & it is a bit too pricy for me at $200, but I am not sure if that is the app you are talking about.

For photo stuff the former Topaz tools (Adjust, B&W + Lens Effects, Topaz Studio ...) offered such things.

Nowadays with their route to AI I once saw that at least their Topaz Video AI tool offers to build/reuse presets and there are people who do offers such. Didn't used their Photo AI tool so far, but that one seems to be always in transition, so they might have or will add preset capabilities there to that one too. - For Luminar in contrast here I'm sure they offer film looks and presets in general for their tools.

Anything built-in specifically for analog film effects?

As that's a tool for video(graphers) look or ask in their forum, or look through their docs about that one.

Thanks for the suggestion but I do not want to spend any time doing that, so I was just asking if you knew.
