Shortcuts to toggle studios often accidentally close studios when they are docked and inactive.

Recommended Posts

I often find that I have to use a shortcut to toggle open/ close a studio panel twice (on Windows) if I have already docked the studio. For example, if I have the character studio and paragraph studio docked and use the shortcut to quickly access the paragraph studio, I close it by accident.

Therefore, I would like to propose the shortcut to first activate the studio if it is already visible, because more often than not do you use the shortcut to access a studio than to close it. Only if the studio is visible and active, should the shortcut be used to close the studio.

Just a comment and possible workaround for you: For those two specific panels (Character, Paragraph), you also have buttons in the Context Toolbar that will Open them (if necessary) and switch to them, without using their shortcuts. (Also true for Text Frame and Typography.)

I've never understood why these buttons only open the respective panels, but can't close/hide them as well. If these panels already have another way to control them, unlike the others, which only open in the menu, then complete control would be useful.
