Bryan Rieger Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I just noticed today that styles that I've added in Designer aren't available in either Photo or Publisher on macOS, but they are available on the iPad versions of the apps. Seems like another regression. I'm running the Affinity Suite 2.3.0 on macOS Sonoma 14.2.1, MBP M1Pro, 32GB RAM. Quote
walt.farrell Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Have you told Designer to Link that Styles category, or have you even the option to automatically link content in the application Settings? Without doing one of those, the added Styles should only be available in Designer and the Designer Persona of Publisher. Bryan Rieger Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 Huh, the option to 'link category' is greyed out. With brushes it just works and you don't have to go through any additional step. I assumed styles and assets behaved in a similar manner. Anyway, with the option greyed out I can't link it regardless. Quote

Bryan Rieger Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 Ah ha, you have to have a document open for the Link Category to become active. You can do everything else in that menu without an active document, but Link Category is the exception. I still think it should be the default behaviour much like brushes. Hangman 1 Quote

It's not a default with Brushes, either. You must have the Setting enabled, or you must manually Link the Brush category. The only exceptions are: Content installed from the Affinity Store via the Account dialog; and Brushes installed into Photo are automatically available in the Photo Persona of Publisher; and Brushes installed into the Designer Persona of Designer are automatically available in the Designer Persona of Publisher. (Those last two are true of Styles, too.) Bryan Rieger Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 For as long as I've used the Affinity apps I install my 3rd party bitmap brushes (not from the Affinity Store account dialog) in the Designer Pixel Persona and they've always been available in Photo and Publisher (Photo persona). Doesn't work between the Pixel Persona of Designer and either Photo or the Photo Persona of Publisher automatically for me. Only if the General Setting to automatically link content is set. And never has, as far as I've seen. (This is on Windows, by the way.) Bryan Rieger Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 My settings (below) have 'Link new content categories' unchecked (I've never checked it). I'm on macOS. walt.farrell 1 Quote
