Hello dear community.

As I looked via the search function of this forum but couldn't find a solution for my issue, I thought I'd try to give this feedback post a chance.

I'm trying to vertically align text of different font sizes to the center within each text box. Fiddling with the baseline off-set manually is not an option, as this makes resizing unnecessary tedious.

Is this really not a feature yet? Or am I just missing something?

Hi @ShawnSandiego and welcome to the forums,

A couple of possible options depending on whether or not you need the text to remain editable or not...

If not you could convert the text to Curves, select the characters in each line and use 'Align Vertical Centres' like this...

Alternatively, if you have access to Publisher and would like to maintain editable text you could set up two Text Styles adding Baseline Shift to the smaller text and then apply the relevant styles to the relevant characters like this... You could also set up keyboard shortcuts for both text styles to make them even quicker to apply...

Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0
Affinity Designer 2.6.2 (3213) Beta | Affinity Photo 2.6.2 (3213) Beta | Affinity Publisher 2.6.2 (3213) Beta

@Hangman Thank you so much, that was exactly what I was looking for!

I'll be working with the curves then. Maybe a future update could have text stay editable, that would be great.

But for now, that'll do the trick. Thanks for the outstanding effort, everyone! 🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️

It's just occurred to me that you do have access to Text Styles in Designer as well so you can keep the text editable just follow the second screen recording but do it all in Designer...

One thing you could try is to use a font with actual Small Caps. Here I have the Uppercase and Lowercase letters. Top is Courier bottom is Jensen with the Small Caps setting. The text remains editable.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
